Skills
Enhance your skills with advanced airways training tailored to real-world scenarios. Practice using industry-standard tools under expert supervision to excel in your role.
Advanced Airways Practise
In our teaching of CICO (Can't Intubate, Can't Oxygenate), we focus on the critical skills and knowledge needed to manage this high-stakes emergency effectively. Participants learn to recognise the signs and triggers of CICO situations and are trained in alternative airway management strategies, including surgical airway techniques such as cricothyrotomy. Through hands-on practice and simulation scenarios, students gain the confidence and skills necessary to respond swiftly and decisively, ensuring patient safety in the most challenging airway emergencies. This training empowers healthcare professionals to handle CICO situations with competence and composure.
Paediatric Advanced Airway Management Course
The Paediatric Advanced Airway Management Course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the specialised knowledge and skills necessary to manage the unique challenges associated with airway management in children. Given the anatomical and physiological differences between paediatric and adult patients, this course focuses on tailored techniques and approaches essential for safe and effective airway management in young patients. Participants will learn about the developmental considerations that influence airway anatomy, including the size and shape of airways, and the implications for intubation and ventilation. The course covers a variety of topics, including the assessment of paediatric patients for potential airway difficulties, appropriate selection and use of airway devices, and advanced techniques such as paediatric fibreoptic intubation and the use of supraglottic airway devices. Hands-on practical sessions are a key component of the course, allowing participants to practice essential skills in a simulated environment. Scenarios will include management of common paediatric airway emergencies, such as croup, foreign body aspiration, and respiratory distress.
Airway Rescue Techniques Course
The Airway Rescue Techniques Course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with critical skills for managing emergency airway situations when standard intubation methods fail. Participants will learn a range of advanced techniques, including the use of video laryngoscopy, which enhances visualisation of the airway, and external laryngeal manipulation to aid in difficult intubations. The course also covers emergency interventions such as cricothyrotomy and tracheostomy, providing step-by-step guidance on when and how to perform these procedures effectively. Through hands-on practice and simulation-based scenarios, participants will gain the confidence to execute these techniques under pressure, ensuring they are prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to life-threatening airway emergencies. By emphasising teamwork and communication, the course fosters a collaborative approach to airway management, ensuring optimal patient outcomes in high-stakes situations.
